Alexa is best known for her role as anchor of Emmy-award winning News 8 Daybreak on WFAA-TV Channel 8. With her positive spirit and trademark cup of joe, she loved getting folks around Dallas-Fort Worth "up and at 'em" in the morning for 17 years at the legacy ABC station. She also served as a traffic reporter, noon anchor, and contributor on Good Morning Texas, WFAA’s signature lifestyle program. Prior to her tenure at WFAA, she served as anchor at Texas Cable News, where she broadcast to the entire Lone Star State.
Alexa began her career in her home state of California as an anchor/reporter at Palm Springs NBC affiliate KMIR-TV. She covered the deaths of Congressman Sonny Bono and Frank Sinatra, and reported on major environmental issues like the shrinking Salton Sea, a huge source of pollution. She had the pleasure of interviewing celebrities, but most fondly recalls sharing a hot air balloon ride with WWII female aviator veterans and riding the newest electric bicycles with auto executive Lee Iacocca.
Growing up in what would ironically become the future home of Facebook - Menlo Park - Alexa attended Santa Clara University and studied abroad at the Institute Of European Studies in Vienna, Austria. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in mass communications and broadcast journalism.
Alexa is passionate about promoting education and embracing social issues that affect children and their families. A member of the National Charity League in her teen years, she now supports local organizations, emcees charitable events, and garners media coverage for non-profits. She was the first journalist to receive the United Way Robert Miller Media Award. And she enjoys mentoring high school and college students who wish to pursue a broadcast journalism career.
The daughter of first-generation Americans, Alexa's great passion for studying other cultures began when she played competitive soccer in Denmark, England, and China as a teenager. Today, she honors her family's Greek-Lebanese ancestry by tracing their family lineage and documenting the life journey and emigration of her beloved 108-year-old grandmother "Yiayia".
In the tradition of many emigrating Greek families, Alexa grew up working in the family restaurant alongside her father (a scientist) and her mother (a teacher). She assumed her restaurant days were over when she married a lawyer of French descent, however, ten years later, Alexa and Bradley find themselves expanding their restaurant business in DFW’s ever-evolving, diverse culinary scene.
Today, Alexa also enjoys a career in residential real estate through her family-based business, Anderson Conomos Team. Brokered with industry leader Keller Williams, she has been named a Top 20 Producer and enjoys using her broadcast skills to create video vignettes featuring homes on the market.
Alexa also indulges her creative side by taking on multimedia projects. She serves as a host and interviewer, brand ambassador, emcee, and content creator for nonprofits and corporations.
Alexa and her husband are the proud parents of three adventurous little Texans and one sweet rescue pup, Keecho. They love teaching their children about other cultures, recreating old family recipes, and continuing special traditions that define their unique family heritage.
